We’ll remain in the sphere of seating units made of tree stumps and we’ll continue with these beautiful benches and stools that combine wood and metal in a seamless manner. This is a series designed by Hilla Shamia, called Wood Casting. The elements included are made by inserting lengths of tree trunk into a mould and filling the gaps with molten metal.
Initially, a credenza used to be a furniture piece on which food that needed to be tested for poison was kept. This was a ritual done before serving important people and aristocrats. Back then, the credenza had no legs. More modern designs such as the one for the Blade Credenza, show a few design transformations. This one has large doors made from a single board of elm wood and brass door pulls. It sits on a steel frame plated in antique brass and this offers it a slim figure.
If you’re not ready to commit to a solid room divider designed to stay in place for a very long time or until you decide to renovate, the alternative would be a modular and mobile divider such as the Build system. These modules are sold individually and have quirky geometric shapes. They can be combined in lots of different ways and they can be organized in a lot of funky ways. Use them to build walls that divide your space or use them as standalone pieces. If you’re not happy with the design you can reconfigure it in a few minutes.
